Description

A dark shadow looms over Middle-earth as the battle between good and evil begins. Players can choose to join the Fellowship of the Ring, striving to protect the free peoples and destroy the One Ring, or take on the role of Sauron, hunting Frodo and Sam while unleashing armies upon enemy cities. The game unfolds over three chapters, where players will gather skills, collect treasures, and rally allies to their cause.

On each turn, players draw cards from a display and can either play them for their benefits or discard them for coins. They can also acquire Landmark tiles to strengthen their position on the board. Victory can be claimed in several ways: by helping Frodo and Sam reach Mount Doom, capturing them with the Nazgûl, rallying support from different races, or dominating all regions of Middle-earth. If no one achieves victory by the end of the third chapter, the player with the most presence on the board wins.
