Terrible biochemical bombings are happening along the interstellar borders of supernations. These unidentified border bombers have wiped out several colonies, infecting 
the population with an accelerated pathogen. The biochemical atomizes when released in the atmosphere, violently killing or altering all living things unlucky enough to be within range. The few that survive are 
less than human - mutated into ravaging monstrosities.

Operating out of the xenobacterial labs on Tark-Weyland Station, the scientist player characters have been brought information about LV-187 - a colony believed to have been recently bombed with the pathogen. 

Not ones to sit on their hands, they intend to do something about it.
